Drinking water accounts for only 1% of earth's water, and the world-wide water supply sector is facing tremendous challenges. New emerging contaminants, aging infrastructures, pollution from urbanization, agriculture and industry pose serious threats to the supply of safe drinking water. Using dynamic modeling, in combination with on-line monitoring and real-time control, the operation of drinking water plants can be optimized. Results are a more stable water quality, lower operation cost, and reduction of environmental emissions. |
